Aehr Test Systems (NASDAQ: AEHR), a specialist in semiconductor test and burn-in solutions, announced a follow-on purchase order from its leading silicon photonics customer. The order comprises one new fully automated, ultra-high-power FOX-XP wafer-level test and burn-in system supporting 300mm wafers with SECS/GEM automation, plus an upgrade to an existing FOX-XP system. These systems are tailored for production testing of silicon photonics integrated circuits critical to data center optical interconnects and emerging optical I/O for AI processors.

This development underscores the escalating demand for reliable optical connectivity in next-generation AI training and inference setups. Aehr's FOX-XP platform excels in high-power wafer-level burn-in, enabling cost-effective reliability screening, early detection of defects, and reduced infant mortality—essential for high-volume, high-uptime AI data centers. CEO Gayn Erickson highlighted the order as validation of the FOX platform's adoption, noting its industry-leading power-per-wafer capacity for scaling high-current device production.

The systems are expected to ship in the second half of 2026, aligning with rapid AI infrastructure expansion. As data centers scale to support advanced AI workloads, silicon photonics promises faster, more efficient optical I/O over traditional copper links. This order, building on prior AI-related wins like a $14 million deal in February, positions Aehr to capitalize on the photonics surge, potentially driving revenue growth through increased production and upgrades.
